Exploring the old manga style emotional essence. A tribute to Manga`s artists of the 80s into the ’90s. An experiment with the fantastic collaboration of Denish Artistic Model Maria Amanda Schaub and Photographer Mike Thomassen. I made it using Photoshop CS6, Illustrator CS6 and a little bit of handwriting crafts with a Wacom Tablet.
These artworks were inspired by the famous japanese quote 見ぬが花 (“Minu ga hana”; literally: “Not seeing is a flower”). This means: Things will never be as you imagine, so you’re better off not seeing them. Reality can’t compete with imagination.
